Things I’ve Learned Along the Way… | H.B. Charles Jr.

1. Your primary responsibility as a pastor is prayer and the ministry of the word (Acts 6:4).

2. Sheep bite.

3. Faithful preaching does not guarantee church growth.

4. Just because there is a crowd does not mean there is a church.

5. Nothing is as good as it seems; nothing is as bad as it seems.

I couldn’t agree with this more. This partial list is just a sample of the 103 things that Pastor H.B. Charles Jr. lists in his blog post about Things I’ve Learned Along the Way…. I personally enjoyed the list immensely and would like to find a way to be reminded of these things periodically.

It is interesting to think about number 2 on his list (which may or may not be in any order of importance). Sheep bite. They shouldn’t, but they do. The sad truth of the matter is that shepherds provoke at times too. They shouldn’t, but they do.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on any of these five points, but also on any of the other 98 on the list.

Of course I hit something wrong and the whole little comment box disappeared….so I will try again….
    1….Absolutely!!
2….Actually…..I think of myself more as a nibbler, but I would like to be a
    wound licker….
3….You should know the answer to that from you own experiences, Sir….
4 …I am reminded of that truth continually……
5 ….You know…..some things are ,in reality, much BETTER than they seem,
we just are looking at them with eyes of doubt and fear and depression,
anger, resentment, jealousy ….and the list goes on….it is so cloudy that
we can’t see God…..AND….some things are much WORSE than they
seem, but, because we look at them through grace, mercy, faith and love and
experience the joys of the LORD through it all and we just don’t “notice”
how very bad things are because WE SEE HIM !!!…not so much the “things”… I know you wanted PREACHERS comments….and look what
    you got!!! I love you!!!
